Epistemologies of the Global South and Reconfiguration of African Studies

The Global South is less geography and more of epistemic space full of social, political, economic and epistemic vitality and existential possibilities. It exists as a source of alternative knowledges, rethinking/unthinking, and theorizations. Born in struggle, epistemologies of the Global South are very critical and opposed to colonialism, patriarchy and capitalism. Research enquiry is into ethical, methodological, epistemological, theoretical, and disciplinary implications of epistemologies of the Global South for the reconfiguration of African Studies. Advancement of the agenda of reconfiguring African Studies takes the form of active participation in the Africa Multiple Cluster’s Knowledge Lab, especially in the ‘Theory Forum,’ the ‘Reflexive African Studies Forum,’ and the ‘Methodology Forum.’
